Welcome to Niña Waṡte Events (pronounced Niña Waush-té), where celebration unites with our Indigenous roots.
Our business was founded by the Smoke Sisters, Tannis and Rayel Smoke from Dakota Plains First Nation.
We are inspired by the love and creativity we grew up with. Brenda and Kelly Smoke, our parents, had five children. They taught us that true wealth comes not from what you have. It comes from the memories you create and the love you hold. This lesson is one we now carry into every event we bring to life.

Our name, Niña Wašté, meaning Really Good in Dakota, reflects our commitment to honoring our languages, uplifting Indigenous voices, and building meaningful community connections. In just one year, we’ve celebrated incredible milestones — from winning Dragons Quest at Vision Quest to taking home the $5,000 top prize at Pow Wow Pitch, earning our spot in the Grand Finale. These moments remind us that our dreams are within reach.
Now in our second year, we’re more passionate than ever about creating events that spark joy, connection, and pride in our culture. From family gatherings to community celebrations and corporate team-building, every moment we help create is a chance to share our story, celebrate Indigenous entrepreneurship, and make memories that last a lifetime.
We are grateful for the support that has carried us this far and excited for the journey ahead as we continue turning our vision into reality.
